Gathorne Gathorne-Hardy, 1st Earl of Cranbrook, GCSI, PC (born Gathorne Hardy; 1 October 1814 – 30 October 1906) was a prominent British statesman, Conservative politician and key ally of Benjamin Disraeli.
He held cabinet office in every Conservative government between 1858 and 1892 and notably served as Home Secretary from 1867 to 1868 and as Secretary of State for War from 1874 to 1878.
Gathorne-Hardy oversaw the British declaration of war for the Second Anglo-Afghan War.
