John Joyce Carter (June 16, 1842 to January 3, 1917) was an Irish officer who fought in the American Civil War.Carter received the United States' highest award for bravery during combat, the Medal of Honor, for his action during the Battle of Antietam in Maryland on 17 September 1862.
He was honored with the award on 10 September 1897.
