Joseph Franklin Carter (September 11, 1842 – April 10, 1922) was an American soldier who fought in the American Civil War.Carter received the country's highest award for bravery during combat, the Medal of Honor, for his action during the Battle of Fort Stedman in Virginia on March 25, 1865.
He was awarded the Medal of Honor on July 9, 1891.
